TARA’S MEADOW ADVENTURES WEEK - AUGUST 23rd - SEPTEMBER 1st 2008

Save these dates on your calendar: August 23rd through September 1st, for some
wonderful workshop choices with a variety of skilled presenters at Tara's Meadow on beautiful Beaver Island.

Beaver Island is the largest, most remote inhabited island in Lake Michigan.  Rich with Irish and Native American lore, the island is cloaked with forests and ringed by 40 miles of clear water beaches.  Our beautiful private meadow is in walking distance of the great lake, an ancient oak grove, a stone circle, and other special natural and historic sites.  During TARA’S MEADOW ADVENTURE’S WEEK you’ll have the opportunity to choose from several 3 hour workshops offered by a renowned author and spiritual leader Karyl Huntley.  You may also choose a personally crafted wilderness solo with the guidance of counselor Michael Sullivan.  Or you may choose to join us for our 12th annual Labor Day Weekend campout retreat entitled “COMPASS OF THE SPIRIT.”  Details follow. . .

Which Way to Wholeness? Crafting Your Personal Ritual with Reverend Karyl Huntley

Saturday Eve through Sunday, August 23-24 2008

Renowned author and spiritual leader Karyl Huntley from Santa Rosa, California will be joining us to lead 4 spiritually-themed workshops related to the four directions, wholeness, and crafting your own personal rituals.  Karyl is senior minister of the Golden Gate Center for Spiritual Living and author of Real Life Rituals, sacred ceremonies for life’s passages (see photo and full bio for Karyl by clicking “Meet the People” below.)  The following four weekend workshops will be led by Karyl at the Tara’s Meadow retreat center and grounds, on beautiful Beaver Island:

North, East, South and West: Energies, Elements and Symbols

Saturday August 23 - 7pm
This is an overview workshop of the compass directions, their meanings in ancient wisdom traditions, and earthly aspects that correspond to the directions.  Learn how to use the directions and their related symbols to understand and work with, the movement and cycles of our lives.

Seasons of the Compass

Sunday August 24 - 10am
This workshop shows how the ancient wheel of the year and the cardinal directions harmonize and form a beautiful circle of balance and flow in our lives.  The wisdom of the seasons can show us how to be more joyful, productive, and peaceful in all the seasons of our lives.

Sitting in the Circle

Sunday August 24 - 2pm
After some initial instruction about what information and support comes from each of the cardinal directions, the participants draw a circle for themselves in nature, sit in solitary meditation and interior questioning facing each direction, and receive wisdom from each direction for their own lives.

Creating Personal Rituals

Sunday August 24 - 6pm
This is a workshop with a bit of initial instruction about the power of ritual and the elements of ritual, followed by ritual creation based on the desires, questions, and needs of the participants. Learn how to deepen your experience of common life occurrences, from sunrises to once-in-a lifetime events, through the construction of and participation in personal, family, and group ritual.

Solo Wilderness Retreats with Michael Sullivan

Michael Sullivan, MA, LPC, is a Holistic Counselor who is passionate about health, nature, drumming and the Wilderness.  He believes that solitude in wilderness can re-ignite and restore our lives.  (see photo and full bio for Michael by clicking “Meet the People” below.)

YOUR Solo Wilderness Retreat

Monday through Thursday, August 25-28 2008
The word “Solitude” comes from the two ancient root words “soul” and “time” joined together.  Let your soul spend time in the natural beauty of Beaver Island and Magic will happen!  As part of this year’s “Adventures Week” at Tara’s Meadow, Michael Sullivan will guide and hold the sacred space for your wilderness solo time.  Together with Michael, you will be able to craft your own Wilderness retreat for the length of time and with the qualities that best serve you.

COMPASS OF THE SPIRIT: WHICH WAY TO WHOLENESS?

Labor Day Weekend 2008

Save these dates on your calendar:  August 29 through September 1st, 2008, for our 12th annual campout retreat in Tara's Meadow on beautiful Beaver Island.

Tara’s Meadow, Beaver Island is the perfect place for your gentle campout and weekend pilgrimage.  Our tradition of pilgrims bringing a “stone of intention” into the cairn of community is a wonderful symbol – where individual discoveries are shared in a new circle of friends.  As always, we’ll enjoy good food, music around the campfire, solo time and play in this most enchanting island landscape.  Join us for an extraordinary weekend: "COMPASS OF THE SPIRIT" over this Labor Day weekend.  Details follow . . .

Compass of the Spirit: Which Way to Wholeness?

Labor Day Weekend August 29-Sept 1 2008
ONCE UPON A TIME we humans enjoyed an intimate relationship with the earth.  We looked to the patterns in life; to the cycles of the sun, moon and seasons around us, for guidance and healing.  We looked here because we understood ourselves to be part of this sacred whole.

Come join us at Tara’s Meadow and walk “the earth path” again, as together we seek our wholeness.  During this wonderful weekend of self-discovery we’ll explore concepts and symbols that are universal, reaching across the boundaries of cultures and religions.  We’ll blend ancient and modern knowledge using the earth as our teacher, creating personally authentic rituals for our growth and healing.  Our journey will take us around the wheel of the year through the seasons, the cardinal directions and the elements, and hopefully through a gate of transformation to our wholeness reclaimed.

Expect fresh new insights, healing and play, new and deepened friendships along the way, during this gentle weekend campout.
