Performance Opportunities

The function of the band program is to develop a progressive learning situation that gives each student the opportunity to find expression through musical performance on an instrument. The musical expression achieved through participation in the program is a form of creative energy that can be guided directly toward a vital activity in the life of the individual. Musical activity brings to the individual discipline, an understanding of democratic function, the sacredness of an obligation, the opportunity to develop and extend creative ability, self-expression, and desire for perfection, consideration for others, a balanced means for constructive use of free time, and the ability to participate within the many cultural opportunities of our heritage.
