Mission Statement:
We are a "Goal Oriented Futbol Club".
We have come together, parents and players alike, to fill a need in the local community. All representatives of G.O.F.C.
are dedicated to providing support for kids who want to play soccer and advance their skills.
Having had the experience of our own children playing soccer for the recreational league (& seeing some get to play in
high school), we realized that there was very little "motivation" for many of the girls, just simply kicking a ball
for fun, to simply turn up on a Saturday morning or to feel like you have to conform to whatever set of ideas your
high school coach may have doesn't cut it!
Our mission is to provide a means for the local kids to continue to play and improve their game as individuals, as a team.
We want all players to be the best they can be! We want them to want to win, to want to play as a team, to want to be their
best, and to do this in an environment where they are enjoying their soccer, their team, their coaching etc., etc.
Of special note is the fact that we want the girls to really enjoy and understand soccer (parents too!), to enjoy
learning soccer, to truly grasp the notion of team work, the results are not the highest priority and we know that we can't
compete with some of the 'premier level' clubs but that's okay because we're not trying to...we just want our kids
to have fun and to learn!
We truly believe that there is a need for a pool of girls to improve and to enjoy soccer so that when they get to high school
the chances of the high school (any h/s) being able to field an all-round stronger team are improved.....if we also happen to
give a h/s a star player or two (and we have!!) then that's even better!
One more thing and this is very important: to all intents and purposes this club was formed for one reason only and that was
because of the effort, participation, improvement and sheer enjoyment of those girls on the very first team I coached. That
environment....that enjoyment....that positive atmosphere will forever be a "goal" of GOFC as long as it exists! Along with
this we will treat the girls on the team with the utmost respect and will strive to earn their respect and not take that
for granted!
