GOFC Soccer Club:

This page is intended for any player not yet in high school that is currently looking for a soccer team to play on.........

First of all, W-E-L-C-O-M-E to the GOFC website.....we are currently recruiting for the fall session so if you have any questions not answered by the website, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us! We'll do our best to help you out and if GOFC is not for you, for whatever reason, then we'll help point you in the right direction.

A couple of useful links for you:
1. Click here for the team brochure! (Word document)

2. Click here for GOFC's "Mission Statement"!

If you are currently on the roster of another team please think carefully before approaching us....the last thing we want to do is "poach" players from other teams....we only want players that genuinely want to play for and benefit from playing with GOFC. We have never (no exception) approached a player to join us that is actively involved with another travelling team. That doesn't mean you can't switch, it just means we won't poach players from other travelling teams. If you ask us about GOFC, we'll gladly explain everything....either way the final choice is up to you.

So, why GOFC.....we firmly believe that any player that wants to play at high school (or beyond) should move on from recreational play. However once that decision is made there are several options available to any player. Soccer is not a cheap sport to play but it doesn't have to be too expensive, we strive to keep our prices as low as possible. Yes, there is an emphasis on fundraisers but we don't always target the parents, they can help for sure but we're not always asking them to pay directly from their own pocket.....and for the most part fundraisers can be fun and helps the players & parents alike to bond! We keep uniform costs down to the bare minimum. We don't charge additional fee's for practice sessions. You are not expected to buy things like hoodies, tshirts etc, you can but you don't have to. There is no out-of-pocket expense except for the session fee, possibly a uniform (new players) and possibly a tournament. If fundraisers go well then even a tournament might be free. Occasionally we bring in professional (or college) coaches....at no extra charge. We also have team outings & parties now and then. We don't travel as much as other clubs do and this in turn keeps the costs down......although I will say we should do more tournaments so expect at least 1 or 2 (the stronger the team we have the more we would do).

We focus on teamwork, learning, fair play and fun.....kids really enjoy their time with GOFC, and it's been a sheer joy watching the kids develop and move onto high school....many a local h/s game has ex-GOFC players playing on both teams.....makes it tough to root for one team!! And there is no question that some of the best players at local high schools have come from GOFC (from other clubs too of course).

Our primary focus is Glenoak H/S although we'll take kids locally regardless of what h/s they end up at. We also have a very good working relationship with Central Catholic h/s, their coaches will gladly push girls in our direction.

We do NOT see ourselves in competition with other clubs, rather we offer an alternative....a relatively inexpensive option that works just fine for most kids!

So, what age group, where, when etc?!?!

Currently we need girls to play on our U14 team(s)......because of the league we play in we can have younger girls on the team so that would be girls in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade....girls of h/s age can also contact us as we have a h/s team over the winter (indoor soccer) and hopefully a h/s team next spring too.
We play in The Greater Stark League in the fall and spring, all games are local (home games at Diamond), we play indoor soccer over the winter. We hope that all players will play year-round, although that is not mandatory. We also offer "practice only" sessions....at a reduced fee you can practice with the team but not play....this is especially useful for some players where they can practice in their first session, then play the next.

There is also a chance we might have a boys team in the fall.

Interested?? Then get in touch with us asap!!

And remember....no matter what team you play on.....play hard but fair, play as a team, play exciting / attacking soccer but above all.....HAVE FUN!!
