2 Collies and a Hound - Agility
Our first Agility Trial
Please note that this page has lots of graphics and may load slowly.
Our first AKC trial was July 13-14 in Fon Du Lac, Wisconsin. Yes we drove all the way to Wisconsin from Kentucky for an agility trial. Well, not JUST for the trial. I am originaly from Wis. and I haven't been there for awhile so it was a good excuse to go. Plus family wanted to see my dogs, and watch them do their stuff.
We made it just in time on Saturday, after geting a little lost, to get checked in and set up. Unfortunatly the one thing we forgot was a camera so there is only one picture from Saturday's events. We bought this pictuer from the photographer that was at the trial for $5. This is Cindy over the last jump of her standard course. Which she won, and also got a qualifying score.
Cindy is running in what is called Novive A. They divide the novice class into two groups. Novice A is for people who have not put a title on another dog. Novice B is for those that have put an agility title on a diffrent dog. They do this because people who have done this before tend to have better handling skils than those that havent, which gives them a slight advantage.
I really wanted to save the course maps so I could put them on-line, but of course I can only find the ones that she didn't qualify on. Go figure. I do have all the times and stuff. For her standard run on Saturday she got 90/100 points. The course was 137 yards, and the time allowed was 74 seconds, and Cindy finished it in 55.08 seconds. There were 6 other dogs in our calss and none of them qualified or placed.
Melody didn't do quite as well. She did the first jump, knocked the bar, tucked her tail and ran out of the ring and into her kennel.
Sunday my grandmother came, and she took the rest of these pictures. Sunday morning was not a good one. Cindy was not feeling well at all. She had the runs and was throwing up. I think the water got to her, it is so much diffrent up there. Next time we travel, we are bringing our own water. Anyway she REALLY wanted to run. She was barking and spinning and carrying on so much that I let her run. This is me setting her up infront of the first jump. I lead out to the 2nd jump (they were in a straight line) and I called her, she went arund them. We went back, I stayed with her and what does she do?
She runs right infront of me and heads up the A-frame (her fav. thing in the world). I knew she wasent paying any attention to me and it would be murder to keep her off the A-frame. So I asked to be excused and she then did the A-frame about 3 more times before i picked her up and carried her out. Hehehe, at least she had a good time doing it!
Sunday Melody did the same thing as Saturday. Except this time she didnt knock the bar on the first jump. This is my ex-boyfriend Jaosn running her. After this jump she tucked her tail and ran out of the ring again.
The next pictures are from Cindys Jumpers with weaves class on Sunday. She was flawless on a course that really was not all that easy. There were lots of crosses and tight turns, and the entrance to the weave poles was REALLY hard, but we did it! The course was 99 yards. The time allowd was 33 seconds, and Cindy ran it in 27.59 seconds! None of the other dogs qualified or placed.

These are her ribbons! We are SO proud of them! Way to go CINDY! The ribbons look the same for both days so we just put them here once, but she does have two of each!
