Ayla as a pup
Mom got me when I was a puppy from a friend whose dog had puppies, (they had an underground fence, and a dog that was not spayed). When I first met mom I was shy and afraid she would not like me because of my eyes. I have inflamed corneas, not cataracts, but that hasn't stopped mom from loving me and treating me like a regular dog. I really don't know there is something wrong because I was born with my eyes like this.

At first I went to so many doctors, I couldn't believe it! All these different people looking in my eyes all the time, telling mom that I couldn't see at all, one even said that the pressure behind my eyes was painful and that if my eyes weren't removed they would explode! Pressure? What pressure I thought...I don't feel any pressure, and now I am 6, I still don't feel any pressure and my eyes certainly have not exploded! I think some of these "doctors" don't know what they're talking about! Good thing mom didn't listen to THAT guy!

Through the years I have developed other problems. When I was 2 I was diagnosed as an epileptic. I had been suffering from random seizures, which were not frequent nor serious enough to put me on medications. So we continued to struggle through the occasional seizure, which were emotionally and physically draining on my mom and myself. Recently my seizures have been more frequent and more severe, so my doctor put me on medications. This makes 3 pills for me to take every morning and every evening. Plus I also have to take this other pill, Diethyl-stilbertrol (DES) every three days to control my incontinence.

Even though I have several health problems, that does not stop me from being a normal dog. I love to chase balls, play in the river, get into trouble. You know the usual dog things. As a "disabled" dog, I encourage other humans to not over look other dogs like me just because of a health problem. We want to be loved too, and we give back SO much love
