First I do the every day stuff to keep them in nice condition and not stained for the shows. This requires a very devoted person; we clean their cages twice every day. Also when ever I see a diry bird, I go and spot wash it with baby shampoo. I also blow dry the bird with a hair drier, it takes some time.
Right before the show, I completly wash the bird with baby shampoo and, after I have rinsed off the soap, I dip the bird in a mix of warm water, bluing, and glycerine. For the bluing, I put in about five drops for half of a five gallon bucket. I use 2 ounces of glycerine per gallon of water. Next I blot them with a towel; then I dry them with a blow drier. So you should take the drying time into account when you are signing up for a show. It is not fun washing twenty birds two days before a show.
