Daniel Kerr was born March 18, 1794 in North Carolina and died February 22, 1875 in Sevier County, Tn. He is buried in Providence Cemetery in Sevier County. He married (1) Alsey Goforth; he married (2) Sarah "Sallie" Petty 1841 in Sevier County. Sarah was the daughter of James Petty and Peggy Robertson.
Daniel Kerr was a Veteran of the War of 1812. He was drafted at Sevierville on the 11th Day of January, 1814 in Captain J. Williams Company, Colonel Samuel Bunch's Regiment, General Doherty's Brigade Division. he stated he served as a Sargeant in Said Company and was discharged on the 16th Day of May, 1814. He received bounty land to which he was entitled under the "act granting bounty land to certain officers and soldiers who have been engaged in the military service of the United States" passed September 28, 1850. At that time he was awarded 80 acres of land.
On March 29, 1878 Sarah "Sallie" Kerr applied for and received a widow's pension.
Daniel and Sarah were buried in the Kerr Family Cemetery and later reinterred at Providence Cemetery in Sevier County, when TVA flooded that area, forming the present Douglas Lake. There were several unmarked graves and it is believed that John Kerr and his wife Martha plus other family members might have been buried there.

1. Mariah Kerr b. circa 1819 md. a Tolbert.
2. Amanda J. Kerr was born 1821 in Sevier County, Tennessee.
3. William "Web" Kerr was born 1833 in Sevier County, Tn. and died in 1864. William joined the Union Army during the Civil War. He was captured and imprisoned at the infamous Andersonville Prison, where he died. He md and was the father of two children.
4. Elizabeth Kerr was born 1825 in Sevier County, Tn. She married a Mr. Poor.

1. Henry Kerr was born 1844.
2. Daniel Kerr was born December 20, 1845 in Sevier County, Tn. He married Delila Finchum November 26, 1868 in Sevier County.
3. Harriett Kerr was born 1848 in Sevier County, Tn.
4. Sarah Kerr was born 1850 in Sevier County, Tn.
5. Manerva Kerr was born 1853 in Sevier County, Tn. and died 1891 in Sevier County.
6. Nancy Kerr was born 1854 in Sevier County, Tn.
