Allergies and Seizures

"The Encyclopedia of Natural Pet Care" by CJ Puotinen says:
"Food sensitivities and allergies are important triggers.
Placebo-controlled double-blind trials have shown complete recovery from
epilepsy in human patients when offending foods were removed from the diet,
and there is evidence that certain chemicals, such as industrial air
pollutants, pesticide sprays, smoke, solvents, volatile compounds and food
additives can cause human seizures. The same factors are blamed by holistic
veterinarians for seizures in pets. In fact, switching a seizure-free dog
from a high quality diet to a commercial dry food can trigger a relapse, as
a friend of mine nearly demonstrated."
The following web site has an article, (by Dr. Belfield), on epilepsy and allergies:

Here is a little bit of what he has to say:
>
"Since I had previously treated skin related allergies with diets and
nutritional supplementation, why not attempt to apply the skin allergy
therapy to a central nervous allergy. The skin allergy nutritional protocol
was successful. This four year old Australian Shepherd female was having ten
gran mal seizures daily, four years later she remains seizure free. I later
learned through, literature research, that the Harvard Medical School had
made the same observation in four children with idiopathic epilepsy, allergy
related. An even more significant reports by Dr. J.R. Collins, veterinarian,
has observed allergy related epilepsy in canines. "
