Career Highlights:
During 1961 Bob’s father, John,
was a car owner in the ARCA stock car division. In their spare time,
Bob and his brother, Ron, worked on the car and attended as many races
as possible. In 1968 Bob became the crew chief and his brother, Ron,
began driving late models on the local tracks. In 1970 Ron moved
into the Winston Cup Series division. His best finish was 4th at
Michigan International Speedway. He won at Pocono, PA in the USAC
Division in 1974. During these years Bob had gained invaluable experience
as crew chief. In 1975 Bob and his brother changed positions.
Ron became the crew chief and Bob became the driver. They ran the
local late model , then moved into the USAC division for the 1976 and 1977
seasons. During those two years his best finish was 7th at the Texas
World Speedway. In 1978 Keselowski ran in the NASCAR Busch
Grand National Division as well as a limited schedule in USAC Division.
His best finish that season was 10th at Milwaukee in the USAC Division.
For the next several years Keselowski
ran the late model stock cars in the NASCAR Grand American Series, winning
over 30 races.
Keselowski’s first race as
driver was in 1975 at Toledo Speedway in Toledo, OH. He was track
champion at Toledo in 1983. His brother, Ron, was awarded the 1987
and 1992 Michigan McCord ARCA Mechanic of the Year award. Bob has
received driver of the year awards from Mopar Muscle Magazine and Michigan
Auto Racing Fan Club. Since his ARCA series debut in 1986, Keselowski
has more victories, more poles, more laps led in more races and more top
5 finishes than any other driver the recent history of that series.
In 1989 he was the ARCA series champion and finished in the top 10 in the
series point standing from 1986 through 1994. In 1995 he left the
ARCA series and competed in the NASCAR Supertruck division. Bob ran
a limited schedule competing in 15 of the 20 events. He accumulated
4 top 10 finishes and was 15th in the overall point standings. Overall,
the team has competed in every season with the NASCAR Truck series and
has accumulated totals of 1 win (Richmond 1997), 1 5th place win
and 12 top 10 finishes. For the 1999 season, Bob will be driving
a limited schedule of events, with his primary driving responsibility being
with the Chrysler Engineering Team. He finished 16th in the first
of those events at Homestead Motor Complex after an engine failure.
