Rose, Pink, and White kaolin are gentle clays making them suitable for sensitive skin. Clay helps stimulate circulation to the skin while gently exfoliating and cleansing. It does not draw oils from the skin and can be used on dry skin types. Kaolin clays are also used in powders, and you can combine them with cornstarch, arrowroot powder, or rice flower to make home made, natural powders. You'll often see commercial soaps containing cosmetic clay advertised as being "French Rose Clay Soap" and they tend to be priced on the high side. I love the color that rose and pink clay gives my soaps. French Green Clay is mostly montmorillonite and is therefore highly efficient at drawing oils and toxins from the skin. Use this clay for oily skin/hair types. Bentonite Clay is a combination of montmorillonite and volcanic ash. It is a highly absorbent clay that pulls oils and toxins from the skin and is best suited for oily skin. Bentonite is also a good clay for shaving soaps because it creates a very "slick" lather, and for use as an oily hair and scalp treatment. I also use bentonite in my teen skin complexion bars.
I don't show pound pricing because I purchase it only for use in
my soaps, and also have a little set aside in case my students would
like to try it. If you want larger quantities, drop me a note and I will
let you know next time I am ordering. You can always save on shipping by
working with fellow crafters to combine orders.
