Hobbies

Anim_Roses_B-fly.gif (18368 bytes)I've never been much of a gardener in the past.  But Suzanne (Thomas's mom) has given us more or less free reign to do what we desire with the yard.  So Thomas and I are doing some gardening this year, something with which neither of us has a whole lot of experience!  On Mother’s Day, we built a rose bed in the back yard – 10’ long, 5’ wide, and 10” deep.  We planted two climbing roses in the back of the bed with eight rose bushes spaced throughout the rest of the box.   Hopefully we’ll have some nice pictures to share soon – although we’ve been cautioned not to expect “prize-winning” roses for the first couple of years!  We have also doubled our peonies in one of the other beds with four additional plants.  We have a vegetable garden as well, which is mostly Thomas’ project.  Thomas also potted some geraniums and other greenery for the back patio and planted marigolds across the flower box in front of the house, all with help from his mom.  You can see pictures of the house and back yard by clicking on the roses at the left.

Basement projectShortly after moving in, Thomas and I started construction on a multi-purpose room.  We partitioned a portion of the basement for our computers and entertainment center.  We got the wall framed in about three days, but we still have a ways to go.   We’ve put this project more or less on hold until fall – unless we have a weekend that prevents us from doing things outside.  Click on the animated hammer on the right to see pictures of our progress.

Ever since owning a computer, I've spent hours upon hours creating different things.  Some of my favorite things to do on the computer are:
• working on my webs – using MS FrontPage.
• making maps, greeting cards, newsletters, labels, etc. – using my Microsoft Office Suite software.
• creating midi files – using Midisoft Recording Session.
• making backgrounds, designs and other graphics for my web – using PhotoImpact and MSPaint and Paint Shop Pro.   I've also found ways of using PowerPoint to create graphic files as well.  While I didn't make all of the graphics you'll see on these pages, I did make quite a few.
• compiling my family tree – using Family Origins.  Click here to see my Genealogy page for more info.
• playing games such as Hearts, SimCity, Hoyle Cards, Hoyle Casino, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, and others.
• surfing the net and seeing what's out there!
