Illinois State Advisory Council on the
Education of Children with Disabilities
This council consists of members appointed by the
Governor – including adults with disabilities, parents of children with
disabilities, school district representatives and representatives from
agencies such as DCFS, DMHDD, DORS. This council: a) advises the
Governor, the General Assembly and ISBE on the unmet needs in education
of children with disabilities; b) comments publicly on rules and regulations
proposed by ISBE as well as distribution of funds for services; c) advises
state and local educational agencies on providing programs and materials
that may enable children with disabilities to exercise their Constitutional
and legal rights. Information about meeting dates, places, and public
