Make Loud and Joyful Noise Unto the Lord! Psalm 100

Paul originally came to Comstock Park as a member of the congregation, joining the choir and singing many solos. When there was a need for somebody to take over the adult choir, Paul stepped in to help in what eventually turned out to be a permanent position as choir director and eventually Director of Music. Over the years he took over the two bell choirs and began numerous new musical groups within the church.

Paul's musical background was strongly influenced by the music program at Comstock Park High School, specifically band director John Steward. His choral background was influenced by his participation in the choir at St. John's UCC in Grand Rapids, and their director Warren Wandrey. After high school, Paul attended the University of Michigan, participating in the U of M Marching Band. After a hiatus from music, he auditioned for and joined the Grand Rapids Symphonic Band. Paul also plays trombone for the Grand River Big Band, and subs for many other area bands like the FairHaven Horns of Power.

Though by night a director and musician, by day Paul is employed as a computer professional and spends his free time participating in sports and spending time with his family. He enjoys all types of music, but enjoys Comtemporary Christian music the best.

"Music serves a variety of purposes in our lives. It can effect our moods, our personalities, and the way we look at life in general. Music is a part of every season, holiday, and important event in our lives. That is why music is also an important part of our worship. Music sets the mood, whether it be a somber choral piece on Good Friday or a celebration of Christ's love through praise music. Music will always have an important place in our hearts."
